Metals and Inorganic Chemistry

ACZ Laboratories has a long standing reputation as one of the top laboratories in the United States for low-level metals analysis.

ACZ is one of the few commercial labs in the country to run EPA 200.8 & EPA 6020 ICP-MS metals in a class 100 cleanroom. The combination of ICP-MS and the class 100 cleanroom offers major advantages over trace ICP and GFAA analyses. ICP-MS produces higher quality data because it is less susceptible to matrix interferences and it provides lower detection limits, giving greater confidence in data that is near regulatory limits. ACZ’s (2) Thermo iCAP RQs and Agilent 7900X instruments utilize  collision cell technology (CCT) to reduce interferences and offer low detection limits for Antimony (Sb), Arsenic (As), Beryllium (Be), Cadmium (Cd), Chromium (Cr), Lead (Pb) Selenium (Se), Thallium (Tl), Uranium (U) and many other metals of concern.

Prepping and analyzing samples in the cleanroom greatly reduces the possibility of laboratory contamination. ACZ was one of the first laboratories in the nation to purchase an ICP-MS in 1991. With over thirty years of ICP-MS experience, multiple instruments, and all prep and analysis being conducted in a cleanroom, our clients are assured of the most accurate low-level metals data available.

ACZ can identify Mercury at a parts-per-million down to sub parts-per-trillion detection levels. Bottle kits for EPA 1631e are assembled in our class 100
cleanroom following EPA 1669 “clean hands, dirty hands” sampling protocol.

ACZ also offers analysis for Rare Earth Elements via EPA 6020 that includes Cerium (Ce), Dysprosium (Dy), Erbium (Er), Europium (Eu), Gadolinium (Gd), Holmium (Ho), Lanthanum (La), Lutetium (Lu), Neodymium (Nd), Praseodymium (Pr), Scandium (Sc), Samarium (Sm), Terbium (Tb), Thulium (Tm), Yttrium (Y), and Ytterbium (Yb).

Inorganic Chemistry Capabilities Include:
  • Trace Metals via ICP & ICP-MS
  • Ultra Low-level Mercury via CVAFS EPA 1631E
  • Mercury via CVAA EPA 245.1 & 7470a
  • Mercury in solids via EPA 7473
  • Rare Earth Elements (REEs) via ICP-MS
  • Selenium Speciation via SM 3114
  • Selenium via ICP-MS & Hydride Generation (HGAA)
  • Wet Chemistry (IC, FIA, TOC, Discreet Analyzer, Auto Titrator, Spectrophotometer)
  • Carbon (TC, TOC, TIC, DIC, DOC)
  • Cyanide (Free, Available, Thiocyanate, Total, WAD)
  • Chromium Speciation via SM 3500

ACZ has the experienced staff, class 100 cleanroom, and instrumentation to produce the highest quality, defensible data, regardless of the sample matrix.
